In addition to updating the forum layout, I've added private messages (click the "My messages" link on the left column), forum signatures and user pictures (these can be enabled under My account > Edit).
Please let me know if you have any trouble getting these things to work.

updates
We are now up to 16 members.
I've wondered whether some members have forgotten about the site, neglected to bookmark it, or simply haven't thought about it enough to visit. Since our two most recent members have joined in on the discussion in the forum, this site has become more interesting. It's beginning to resemble what it was originally intended to be.
...After beginning this post I went ahead and started to compose an e-mail to all members, subject line 'Nation of Earth member site update'. I promise to only send updates when I feel it is important. If you would rather not receive any updates, please let me know.
